Polenta and Missoltini

In the cuisine of Como and Lake Como, the lake naturally plays a fundamental role.

Risotto with perch or Missoltini (agoni fish caught in May, dried and preserved in a container with bay leaves) served with polenta are just two of the specialties you can taste in the area. From the mountains comes the tradition of polenta, served with braised meats, cheeses, or simply with milk.

You should also try the alpine cheeses and the torta miascia (made with stale bread, butter, milk, eggs, raisins, sugar, and red wine).

In the Como area, you will also find seven Michelin-starred restaurants.
